Along with cooler weather, Fall brings us the holidays and parties! While they are fun, they can be really hard on your skin. The holiday season is meant for good times with family and friends. Occasionally, those good times can lead to a little excess. It’s easy to do, especially when the conversations, foods and libations are flowing.
Here are a few tips to help you and your skin look and feel your best!
Be sure to hydrate! The day of the party, consume a generous amount of water to protect against alcohol’s dehydrating properties. Most hangover conditions are directly related to dehydration.
Choose your beverage wisely. Consuming even a couple of drinks can have an impact on the complexion. That warm, rosy glow in your cheeks is known as transient flushing. It happens when alcohol’s main metabolite, acetaldehyde, kicks in, releasing histamines into the body and causing blood vessels to dilate and create redness.
Be sure and eat at the party and use a little strategy there as well. Go for protein first – it’s more filling and can help you resist all of the sugary treats holiday parties are famous for.
Another trick is to use a small plate and give your food time to settle before going back for seconds.
Another great tip – if it’s a potluck, bring something healthy…. That way you have at least one dish that will be good for you and your skin.
So..you went…you had a blast …. AND, you overindulged…what to do? Drink plenty of water the next day, with a dash of lemon to help with digestion. Light broths and salads will also help with digestion issues.
All that salt and sugar can lead to eye puffiness. Try a cold compress or cooled black tea bags to bring the puff under control.

With instant results and low risk, dermal fillers have a lot of advantages but they’re certainly not all created equally. Take Bellafill for example: Unlike hyaluronic acid fillers, which often dissolve within a few months, Bellafill creates a lasting improvement in your skin. In fact, the majority of patients who treated their smile lines with Bellafill are happy with their results five years after treatment! Yes – we said … five years!
Having a great strategy for both holiday parties and your skin long term is a smart way to go! Learn more about Bellafill and how it can help improve your skin by clicking here.
